Year Seven, Level Two: Magic Is Might

In this level you’ll need a Regular Wizard, Strong Character, Book Character, Key Character, and Dark Wizard.

First Time

Right from the start, go to the right and destroy the two chains with Reducto. Use Wingardium Leviosa to turn on the lamp to the left of the chain, then go to the opposite side and turn on the lamp to the right of the bookcase. Use Diffindo on the wall and wind up the toy, then go forward to the front of the room. The final lamp is to the right of the door with the eye, and turning it on will give you the character token for Ron (Reg Cattermole). Switch to Ron and use the Deluminator on the lamp on the left, then move the light to the lamp beside the statue. Build the pieces into a violin and use it to play a song to make the door open.

Shoot the desk to find the key for one lock, and spin the swords on the wall for the second key. Unlock both chains to move on.

Now you can head through the previously locked gate. Fill up the watering can using Aguamenti, then use it to water the flower. Place the flower on the purple spot to get the man inside down and he will unlock the gate for you. Walking through the larger gate will allow you to the next area.

Use Reducto on the lock on the elevator door, then have Ron use Pigwidgeon to knock down the pieces and climb through the tunnel. Put these pieces together to make the elevator arrive, then go inside.

You’ll enter during a fight scene with Umbridge. Shoot the Ministry workers that appear, then hide behind the chair in the center as Umbridge throws things at you. Throw the final object back at her, then repeat as necessary. There’s a quick and simple duel after hitting Umbridge twice, another sequence of her throwing things at you, and then she’ll come down to duel you herself.

After defeating Umbridge you’ll move onto another running scene. This is where you’ll find the hardest crest piece in the game to obtain, the Slytherin Crest piece. When you’re almost near the end of the running part, you’ll enter an area that turns instead of going straight. Immediately run to the left and go behind the statue to get the crest piece. Like I said, it’s extremely difficult to get, and that fact is what makes this level so irritating: if you don’t get it, the Dementors will catch up to you and you’ll be sent to the end of the level, meaning you’ll have to play the entire level over in order to get it. When I first played the game, I had to replay this level five or six times before getting it.

Free Play

For the Gryffindor Crest piece, go to the left in the first area and pull the handle using a strong character. Shoot each of the five ducks for the crest to appear. Also in this area is the Harry (Albert Runcorn) character token, which is found by opening the bookcase.

Use a key character to open the vault in Umbridge’s office for the Ravenclaw Crest piece.

In the area with the elevators, use Dark Magic on the chest to the right and then again on the scroll inside for the Hufflepuff Crest piece. Use Dark Magic on the elevator door to free the Student In Peril and earn the character token for Hermione (Mafalda).

Now you’ll have access to the tent (and, if you’re playing on Xbox 360, get the easily missed Hogwarts Has Changed achievement: just go to the left and open the Marauder’s Map). But instead of going inside, you’ll be working outside for a while. Use Hermione’s bag plate to remove the rocks, then build the pieces into an Apparition plate and use it to reach the next level.
