Year One, Level One: The Magic Begins

In this level you’ll need a Regular Wizard, Strong Character, and Goblin.

First Time

When the level starts, you’ll be in the Leaky Cauldron. Switch to Hagrid and use Wingardium Leviosa to rotate the candle on the far left. Put together the pieces it gives you to build a painting. Walk forward to where the witch in green sits and rotate the candle there, and put the pieces together once more. The Gryffindor Crest piece will appear above you. Use Wingardium Leviosa on the three small tables to turn them into a ramp, and then jump up on the ramp to collect it. Then, switch to Harry and stand on the small platform. Switch back to Hagrid and raise the platform into the air. Switch to Harry again and climb to the top of the stairs and pick up the door handle, then carry it to the door and put it on. Switch back to Hagrid and use Wingardium Leviosa to open the door.

And now you’ve made it to Diagon Alley. After levitating the bricks to build the wall, go over to the small orange spot on the left. The woman inside the shop will give you the Slytherin Crest piece. Next, walk past the green table and switch to Harry. Jump on the brown table next to it and Hagrid will lift you up to the balcony. Go over to the student standing there and he will jump down, earning you the Student In Peril. Now, switch back to Hagrid, walk the whole way down and look for the three ingredients you need to make the potion (a spider, found on a yellow web to the left; a bouquet of flowers, found on the table to the right; a Popsicle, found to the left of the cauldron inside of the ice cream box), and put them into the cauldron. The potion will explode, clearing the obstacles formerly in your path. Go back near where you received the Slytherin Crest piece and levitate the barrel to your right. Put the pieces together and switch to Harry, and make him ride the sweeper. Ride it the whole way down to where the potion exploded and clear away the residue to get the Hufflepuff Crest piece. Then, switch to Hagrid and pull the chain outside of Gringotts to open the door.

Once inside Gringotts, go to the desk in the front of the room. It’ll show a small cutscene, and then you will be able to use Griphook. Use Griphook to open the gate in between the two long desks to the left. Then use Hagrid to pull the chain, and go back to Griphook to unlock the vault. Put the pieces together to build a painting that transforms into a door, and go inside.

Use Hagrid to pull the chain near the left vault to make the dragon go away, then use Griphook to open the vault and go in. It’ll switch to another cutscene, and then you’ll be back in Diagon Alley. Follow the blue arrow to end the level.

Free Play

Since Hagrid only has one spell to use, Wingardium Leviosa, you can’t destroy the shining locks found throughout Gringotts to complete the Crest and earn new characters. So, after unlocking and purchasing a wizard with full abilities, you can come back to this level and get everything you missed.

Play through the level like you did before, until you get to Gringotts. Use Reducto on the lock behind the desk in the front of the room. Then use a Strong Character to pull the chain and make the dragon go away, leaving behind the Ravenclaw Crest piece.

Talk to Griphook like you did the first time and unlock the gate, then switch back to your wizard. There are two chests with locks on them: the one on the right will unlock Tom the Innkeeper, and the one to the left will give you Mr. Ollivander. Unlock both of these chests and collect the character tokens before moving on.

In the next area with the two vaults, there is another chest with a lock to the right. Unlock this and collect Griphook, then finish the level.

  1. How do you get the third kid off the chandelier in class? I got the first two off, and I gave the statue near the weight the broomstick or whatever, so the chandelier lowered but the kid hasn’t come down and I haven’t found anything else in the room that could help yet.
